TeamViewer reaffirms its commitment to Japan by opening its first Tokyo-based office

Tokyo, May 30 2018 – TeamViewer®, a leading global software provider for IoT, connectivity, monitoring, support, and team collaboration, has announced that it will open its first Japanese office in Tokyo this year as part of its plan to focus on long-term growth and local customer support.

Speaking to the media in Tokyo, TeamViewer CEO, Oliver Steil underscored the company’s long-term ambitions in the Japanese market and said: “Japan is an exciting place to do business with significant potential for growth to accelerate. Today we have more than 13,000 customers in Japan. TeamViewer has been downloaded 500,000 times in the first quarter of 2018 which is a year-on year 25% increase. However, we want to achieve 100% growth year-on-year. We are excited about opening our office in Japan to give customers the in-market support they have asked for.”

TeamViewer’s Tokyo office will be comprised of staff operating across the business, including direct sales, channel sales, presales engineering and marketing. On May 24, in addition to its already established Japanese Customer Support team, TeamViewer launched a Japanese language version of its Community website to offer all Japanese users a comprehensive local support service.

TeamViewer’s CEO added that the company’s software is perfectly suited to the needs of Japanese SMBs/SMEs, which are the key drivers of growth and innovation in the world’s third largest economy. As more and more industries in Japan continue to develop and implement IoT, TeamViewer offers secure networks enabling all customers to benefit from this growing trend. In addition, TeamViewer’s innovative software solutions and technologies can help support Japan’s efforts to implement work-style reforms, increase efficiency and connectivity amongst companies and individuals, and encourage teleworking and other flexible working arrangements.

Steil explained: “Companies and staff are under pressure to work in ever more connected, efficient and quick ways. TeamViewer can provide solutions that are cost effective, scalable and simple to use, complementing work-style reform and helping companies lift profits.”

The Japan office opening will mark a significant milestone for TeamViewer, which has grown from a start-up in the German town of Göppingen to a global leader that employs more than 700 people from more than 60 countries. TeamViewer’s software is currently active on more than 400 million devices.
